Review: The Man Painter by Melissa Turner Lee

Secrets can kill a relationship. But the secrets Holly and Theo keep from each other in the start of their relationship could mean the death of either of them. Fritz holds all the cards, and raises the stakes in this deadly, more adult conclusion of The Painter Series.

Beware, there will be spoilers for book 1 in my review of book 2.

My Review:

I really think it would be impossible to top the first book, The Earth Painter.  It was just THAT good, but The Man Painter is a close second; an amazing and beautifully sweet novel.  Easily gaining a five star rating.  The incredible depth and emotion of book 1 is absolutely present in book 2 with the romance level of Pride & Prejudice.

We rejoin this amazing world two years after the events of The Earth Painter.  Holly doesn't know what has become of Theo; she feels he has left after being disappointed in her failure to save the well.  Despite the loneliness and guilt, Holly is doing well on her own.  She has continued living in her grandma's house (despite her parents moving to Asheville, NC), going to college for acting and working for Anthony's mom.  On her way to join her parents for Thanksgiving, in an awesome twist of events, Holly finds herself face-to-face with a very human Theo in Charleston, SC.  And Theo isn't disappointed.  He's thrilled to see her.  It seems he may even have some very human feelings for her.

Theo joining humanity has been and continues to be a difficult adjustment for him.  He is frustrated with his limitations and unsure of himself.  This places him in a unique and vulnerable place.  The beauty of this is that Holly's roll has changed and she can now nurture Theo much like he was able to nurture her in book 1.

While still full of action, suspense and mystery, Theo's and Holly's relationship takes center stage and it's sooooo beautifully done!!!  Yes, yes, I've been using "beautiful" like crazy throughout this review, but it just fits in a way no other word works.  This book is beautiful!  You need to read it!!!  It will warm your heart and make you teary eyed and will remind you how special true love is.

Again, a book cover that is artistically stunning and perfectly reflects the content makes me a happy girl.  **Happy Sigh**
